Past Projects
IOFA developed Girls Talk! to promote the full participation of women in all spheres of society. Girls Talk! is an international girls leadership and empowerment program to promote gender equity and provide young women with the tools, knowledge, skills, and support necessary to act as agents of change at the local, national, and global levels. The program has been implemented in Tanzania, the Dominican Republic, and New York City.
Project to Prevent Adolescent Trafficking
IOFA has played a leadership role in the prevention of youth trafficking around the world through work in educating and supporting young people who are at risk for trafficking in both source and destination countries.
Project Prepare!
IOFA, in collaboration with FAIR Fund, created Project Prepare! to support youth aging out of institutional care. Project Prepare! is a unique educational program intended to provide youth leaving care the knowledge, skills, and support needed to transition successfully to independent lives. IOFA and its partners have implemented Project Prepare! in Serbia & Bosnia, and we are preparing to pilot the curriculum in Cambodia and Ethiopia.
Community Response to Trafficking
This project developed community-based responses to trafficking in the Dominican Republic and included anti-trafficking awareness-raising activities at the grassroots level.
Post- Earthquake Haiti Support
In the wake of the devastating earthquake that occurred in Haiti in January 2010, IOFA conducted a needs assessment in the country and purchased furniture and supplies for a school that was completely destroyed in the earthquake.
